Wisdom teeth are the 3rd molars and the very last set of teeth we get. They begin to come in during late adolescence and early adulthood, roughly between the ages of 18 and 30. They are the backmost teeth on the upper and lower jaws.
Why is it recommended to remove wisdom teeth?
Wisdom teeth don’t serve any useful purpose anymore, and the problems they create tend to outweigh any benefits. They can become impacted, and cause crowding and pain, which leads to unnecessary oral surgery.
Is wisdom teeth removal painful?
Unlike in the past, wisdom teeth removal is performed under local anesthesia, so the procedure is pain-free. Any discomfort is manageable with pain medication.
How long is recovery after wisdom teeth are removed?
Wisdom teeth removal doesn’t come with long downtime. The stitches will dissolve on their own in 1-2 weeks, and most discomfort will be gone after 3-4 days.
How are wisdom teeth extracted?
It all begins with getting dental x-rays. To remove the tooth, local anesthesia is used, and then specific tools are used to extract the tooth. In some cases, the tooth can be broken to remove it in smaller parts.
Can I get a same-day appointment for wisdom teeth removal?

What is an impacted wisdom tooth?
